Spinnerbaits and Bladed Jigs
The spinnerbait is the forgotten big fish bait that is vastly underutilized. I have several that I consistently use and have them available here on our site. Give some of these a try and let me know what you think.
When to fish and which is the right style.
I think wind is key to a great spinnerbait bite to go on. It breaks up the surface and doesn't give the fish as good of a look at the bite. Don't get me wrong, I will almost always have one on to try though. Some of the biggest fish of my life have been on spinnerbaits.
Willow blades are maximum flash and in dirtier water need to be biggest blades possible. Colorado blades give you the maximum vibration and are excellent for low light conditions and muddy water. Some combination in between is great in stained conditions. My favorite go to is usually a double willow with one gold and one nickel with a chart/white skirt though. That is a confidence bait in a 1/2 oz for me.
The Billy Phillips line is my go to in spring for a dirty water bait or small water killer were I want some thump and flash. The Flex Arm 1/2 oz bait in Black is also my first choice for night fishing.
Our swimbaits all make for a great spinnerbait or bladed jig trailer giving them that extra thump!
